Why We Invested in Misochain

Capital-A backs founders who build deep tech and advanced manufacturing capabilities that matter for India’s long-term Competitiveness. Misochain fits that thesis perfectly by turning a long-standing import dependency in flight-critical aerospace components into a homegrown, globally acceptable business.

India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem has reached a clear inflection point. Defence production touched ₹1.27 lakh crore in FY 2023–24, a 174% increase since FY 2014–15, driven by sustained policy focus under Make in India. Defence exports have scaled even faster, reaching ₹21,083 crore, expanding nearly 30× in a decade with Indian platforms and components now exported to 100+ countries. (Source Pid.Gov.In)

India is in need of more aircraft than ever, from fighter jets and helicopters to drones and unmanned systems. Every aircraft relies on safety-critical components that are still mostly Imported. Parts like air data probes, vibration isolators, and solenoid valves may look simply but they directly affect the quality and safety of the aircrafts These are the components in the path of indigenization. This creates a ₹600 Cr+ opportunity just on probes.

Misochain is focused on building these components in India, starting with certified flight-critical probes and related systems. They are working on this problem with the technical
depth and certification focus required for aerospace.. The company is solving decades old import dependency with certified products, and is expanding its product base into UAV,
UCAF, and commercial MRO segments in a practical, product-led way.

The Import Dependency Problem
Despite years of focus on self-reliance in aerospace through programs such as Tejas LCA and the Light Combat Helicopter, India continues to rely on imports for many core, flight-
critical components. This gap is now translating into a clear indigenisation opportunity, supported by measures such as 14,000+ items indigenized under the SRIJAN portal and
3,000 under Positive Indigenization Lists, which restrict imports and create sustained demand for domestic supplier setting the context for the products and capabilities Misochain is building.

  • Air data probes vital for accurate sensing of airspeed, altitude, and angle-of-attack, represent a key indigenization opportunity for India—strengthening capability at home while opening doors to the rapidly expanding global UAV, UCAV, and UAM markets.
  • Passive vibration isolators systems, which safeguard avionics and structural components from engine and rotor loads, offer a significant indigenization pathway
that positions India to participate competitively in next-generation UAV, UCAV, and UAM platforms worldwide.
  • Solenoid valves Fuel & Pneumatic solenoid valves, used in critical applications for both commercial and military platforms, present a significant build-to-spec opportunity for Misochain, strengthening the country’s position as a reliable and competitive source of high-precision aerospace components for global OEMs.
  • Aerospace MRO test solutions with advanced tools and systems for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing aircraft components.

These components are not optional. They are fundamental to flight safety.

Why this market is opening up now
Policy support has moved beyond intent to execution. Programs such as iDEX and SAMARTHYA are accelerating the adoption of indigenous technologies across defence platforms, while India’s stated targets of ₹3 lakh crore in defense production and ₹50,000 crore in exports by 2029 provide long-term visibility for companies building flight-critical,
certifiable hardware.

Instead of betting on which aircraft platform, OEM, or UAV program wins, Misochain supplies the critical components that all of them need. As more aircraft programs come online, demand for these components rises alongside them, giving Misochain broad exposure to sector growth without being tied to any single platform.

A few strong tailwinds make this the right time to build Misochain.

  • Global de-risking from China: Post-pandemic, Tier-1 aerospace players are actively diversifying supply chains away from China and adding India to their sourcing lists.
  • Need for multi-region certified suppliers: OEMs now want qualified suppliers across regions, especially for flight-critical parts.
  • India’s defense capex push: Modernization and import substitution are central to
the 5-year defense roadmap, with higher spend on Air Force and UAV programs.
  • UAV/UCAV growth: The Indian UAV market is growing rapidly, and platforms needing probes and air-data systems are expected to grow multiple-fold – with no Indian OEM offering fully engineered UAV-specific probe systems yet. This creates a major indigenization opportunity with strong global potential, as international UAV and UCAV programs increasingly seek reliable, next-generation air-data suppliers.”

Put simply, demand is rising, and the world is actively looking for qualified alternatives – a gap which Misochain filing.

What Misochain has actually achieved
For more than a decade, HAL and DRDO have tried to indigenize air data probes, including through partnerships with large IT and engineering companies. None of these efforts
crossed the finish line.

Misochain is the first Indian OEM to:

  • Build fully functional air data probe prototypes.
  • Clear Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) qualification.
  • Enter commercial negotiations for HAL’s long-cycle tenders.
  • Demonstrate performance on par with imported systems.

In aerospace, the first qualification is the hardest barrier to cross. Once you are in, the relationship and revenue cycles run for years. Misochain has already crossed this first hurdle.

Where IP Does the Heavy Lifting
Instead of setting up a heavy manufacturing shop from day one, Misochain has chosen an asset-light model.

  • Precision machining is outsourced to top-tier certified partners.
  • Design IP, assembly, testing, and qualification are kept in-house.
  • Processes are built to AS9100D standards across design and manufacturing.

This allows the company to concentrate resources on the core aerospace challenge, engineering depth, certification, and long-term reliability—while maintaining a scalable model as volumes increase.

Team:
Rama and Murali spent over 19 & 15 + years respectively in Aerospace industry, designing and developing flight-critical parts like air data probes and actuators.. They have worked on major global aircraft programs, handled complex certification processes, and understand every step needed to make these components safe, reliable, and world-class.

With their firsthand experience solving these technical challenges for global OEMs, they know exactly how to build these products in India and meet strict aerospace standards. Their background in design, testing, quality, and supplier management is the main reason for Misochain to became the right team to develop these components.
